2021 Achievements - A Video in Canva

This week in our Cybersmart lesson we were extending our use of Canva

Canva is an online  graphic design platform, used to create graphics, presentations, posters, documents and other visual content.

Today we were creating a video about 3 of our achievements in 2021. We had to include a PiP (picture-in-picture) video of ourselves in the introduction. We added a background, elements and animations. We can also add audio.

Coding 2D Shapes and Spirographs

This week in our Cybersmart lesson we were coding in Scratch and using our knowledge of 2D shapes. We coded a shape first then we made a spirograph with the shape. Some of us were able to code the background to change colour as well.

Here is Ella's 2D Spirograph. Click the green flag to start.

Tract App - Become an Edutainer

We have explored the Tract App with the view to becoming an "Edutainer". Click here to find out more about Tract

To start us off we met with Ari Memar, CEO and co-founder of Tract. He lives in USA and he used Zoom to connect with us when we were at school. He showed us around Tract and told us about how he created it and what it is for.

We went over the protocols for video conferencing and made sure our microphones were muted.  We were able to ask Ari questions at the end of the video conference.

Tract is an opportunity for us to follow a path of something we are interested in, learn from others and teacher others in a safe environment. Let's get creating!

Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori

This week is Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori.
In our Cybersmart lesson we made a rebus puzzle to help people pronounce local names correctly.
Here is some of our work.
Do these help you to say them correctly?

Creative Mind Competition Entries

Hub Takakawe submitted 11 entries into the local Creative Mind Competition. They are all listed below with links to their blogs which have their entry posted there.

Some of us were in teams and collaborated to create wither a local story in Gamefroot or an animation in Google Slides. We like Gamefroot because we could use media that looks like it is from Aotearoa.

You can look at the entries by going here and clicking on the on the student's names in the table.
Please leave a comment on the student's blogs.

The results for the Creative Mind Competition are here

Creative Mind Competition

Our local cluster has had a Creative Mind Competition
This competition is to combine local stories, music created by Ilminster Intermediate pupils and
coding or animations.
We learned how to code in Gamefroot.
We really like Gamefroot because it has got icons and media from Aotearoa to use
which go with our local stories.
You can read the details of the competition here.

Matariki

This week in our Cybersmart lesson we read the story of "The Eyes of Tawhirimatea".
We created a GIF in Brush Ninja to tell the story or to show what we know about Matariki.
Do you know what a GIF is and why they are so popular?
You can find out by watching a short video here.
